The over due HypnoBirth of baby Marlin
When I found out I was pregnant I had my heart set on a calm and natural birth, I didn’t know how to go about this but I knew that it’s what I wanted.
As my husband and I completed our Hypnobirthing classes we had our birth plan set, we were regularly taking time out to mediate and talk about the way we hoped the birth would go for us and our baby, every day I was visualising the way I wanted my birth to go.
Our birthing plan in the end did not go to plan at all. I had hoped for a progressive labour that began at home, I would take a bath with candles and lavender oil burning and then when it was time we would drive to the hospital where I would get into a bath and have my baby. No drugs, no intervention and definitely no induction!! Well, by the time I was 12 days over my due date my husband and I had just spent the night in hospital awaiting the morning for when I would be induced, not my plan at all!!. I did not labour at home, I was induced and hooked up to a monitor throughout the labour which meant that I could not have my water birth and although everything seemed to be going wrong I naturally, quietly, calmly and without drugs gave birth to a gorgeous baby boy (with lavender oil burning in the background the whole time). It wasn’t the plan that mattered in the end it was the tools I had gained that enabled me to bring my baby into the world just the way I wanted to.
